This article provides an overview of the first-grade art and literacy curriculum Waldorf schools, world’s largest, non-religious independent educational network. The was created by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, a contemporary John Dewey Maria Montessori who shared their belief in advantages active learning. Yet Steiner unique among his contemporaries focus on artistic approach to Under teacher’s direction, children draw, sing, play learn sounds alphabet letters.
